This past year, Georges Hobeika unveiled his Spring 2025 Ready-to-Wear collection at Paris Fashion Week. Fashion Week, an industry event for designers, is a week-long occasion where designers showcase their latest designs. Hobeika had been working on this collection for months, and dazzled everyone with the presentation. Inspired by the resiliency and adaptability of crocodiles, snakes, and other exotic animals, this collection is a gorgeous take on contemporary femininity. Using a wide variety of silhouettes interspersed with animal-inspired patterns, Hobeika sought to liken the pieces to nature and bring to mind the “intricate complexities of life.” The color of the pieces in the show shifted all throughout, from deep yellow to blush pink to ice blue. The adapting colors reflect the overall theme of the collection: adaptability and persistence. The pieces throughout the show transform, as do humans. We are constantly transforming and evolving, and Hobeika sought to showcase this evolution through his use of floral motifs. These designs draw on the idea of a woman’s ability to adapt to her environment and bloom, relevant to the spring collection as this is the time when flowers are beginning to bloom. The modern ideas behind this collection were brought to life with Hobeika’s traditional style of beading, inspired by the colors of the Mediterranean Sea by his native Lebanon. This collection draws on his roots as well as his past and present inspirations in its reflection of the human spirit and evolution. While his previous work has delved into the complex ideas of femininity, culture, and color, this is his first collection based on the ideas of evolution and resilience. This stunning debut paves the way for an interesting exploration of ideas to come in his future collections.
