As our winter sports teams gear up to take the field and court, we reflect on an amazing fall sports season full of action and success for our La Jolla Country Day Torreys. This fall, the Torreys brought their A-game, delivering outstanding performances across all sports. Let’s look back at some of the highlights from this memorable season.
Boys’ Water Polo wrapped up their season with a 14-14 record and earned a spot in the CIF Division 3 playoffs, showcasing their determination to win in their hard-fought matches. Girls Field Hockey had a historic year, finishing with a 17-6 overall record and winning the Eastern League Title with a 9-1 league record. They made program history by qualifying for the Open Division CIF playoffs, reserved for the top eight teams in San Diego. Boys Varsity Football ended the season with a 5-6 record, and Head Coach Tyler Hales earned a nomination for the Charger High School Coach of the Week Award. JV Football excelled this season, led by Coach Marco Scavuzzo, earning an impressive 8-2 record. Girls Tennis had a standout year, finishing 12-5 and winning the CIF Division 1 Championship after a close 10-8 victory over Scripps Ranch. Boys’ Beach Volleyball faced a challenging season, finishing 2-8. Girls Golf was led by Ashley Ding, who qualified for the Southern California Regional Tournament and advanced to the CIF-SCGA Championship. Girls Volleyball had a remarkable run, finishing with a 28-10 record and advancing to the CIF Division 2 Championship after beating schools such as Scripps Ranch and Maranatha Christian. Although they lost a challenging final game, the team’s season showcased these players’ talent and dedication to the program. Torrey’s Dance and Cheer teams added needed energy and school spirit to home and away games for all our athletes and fans this season. Across all sports, the Torreys gave it their all, showing amazing dedication, teamwork, and pride in their teams and the school’s sports programs.
